Homeowner Reviews
I own a home built by First Texas Homes that is only three years old. The Rheem tankless water heater installed by the builder has failed, and I have had no hot water since December 20, 2025. Homeowners are told to contact the warranty company directly. I contacted Rheem, who admitted they do not have the necessary parts in stock and offered a replacement only if I paid $2,000–$3,000 in labor, even though a licensed plumber confirmed the actual repair would be about $237 if parts were available. Because of this failure, I have been forced to boil water for basic hygiene, which is unsafe and unacceptable in a nearly new home. This is a serious habitability issue that the builder should address. — Lisa P., Texas homeowner Grayhawk in Forney Texas

I am second time home buyer from first Texas home, first time was four years ago I had no issues and so happy. That’s the reason we want to build our second home with them. This time we had horrible experience. Threatening us so many times take it or leave it. Nothing they want to fix it. We pay 12k for upgrade the bricks. Since day one I told them the bricks are different colors. They told me it just dirty. Now, they stain the front of the house and refuse to stain the rest of the house. TV wall looks obvious different when they repaired. They told me use TV to cover up. Short cut of tiles at bathroom, they DIY fix it for us. Whole kitchen cabinets are super narrow and skinny than normal kitchen. Non functional outlets next to cooktop. I singed blueprint paper shows me was di Different Than the actual kitchen they give me. Remember I am second time home buyer from them. I know what is the correct way and I had conversation with the first home contractor. He agreed with me. But the company threatening us to close it. Our neighbor also has the same experience like us. Force us to closing like this.

We recently purchased a house from First Texas Homes within the La Frontera community. We could not be happier with the house or First Texas Homes! The purchasing process was quick and everyone from the company are overly friendly and helpful. We found a small electrical issue about a month after moving in and the builder had it fixed within days. All new houses are going to have small issues and it was great to see how quickly the company fixes small problems. I would absolutely recommend First Texas Homes to anyone looking for a house in the area.

Despite investing time, money, and effort into customizing my dream home, disappointment overshadows it all. The garage, meant to accommodate my vehicle, falls short—my vehicle fits perfectly in neighbors' garages but not my own (same model home, fits in one garage and not in mine). Adding to the frustration, the warranty department has washed its hands of my concerns, leaving me abandoned and unheard. If there is an email for the division head, I would like to express these concerns directly. This journey, meant to bring joy, feels riddled with regret.

The buying experience was fantastic. However after close when we started experiencing issues the warranty team has been horrific to work with. From not responding to tickets for weeks to having trades that complete sub-par work on repairs it has been a constant struggle. After a month of irrigation system issues, multiple calls to the trade over multiple days and times with messages left and never returned I had no option but to get repairs done by an another company. When that company found a leak I am now told it voided the warranty. Well a reasonable time for remedying the issue is also an expectation. Other repairs have been shotty at best, but have been told by First Texas that since they “fixed the issue” they found them to be acceptable. I have provided pictures and documentation as requested. These are my personal experiences and represent my personal option of quality of work and services provided. UPDATE: after months of going back and forth these issues were finally resolved. HOWEVER, my one year inspection was completed and I supplied results to the warranty team. I have had to again project manage repairs. The field warranty person doesn’t keep track of repairs very well (to the point he was asking what was completed). I have escalated issues to VPs who appear to care but lack follow through. Again, my experiences and my opinion.
